A Spanish sworn translation is considered a public document in Spain. It is requested and accepted by registers, notary offices, courts, government bodies, academic institutions and private entities.

It also takes legal effect in other countries around the world, and is usually requested when local authorities need assurance to the effect that the translation of a document is reliable.
